The Research Seminar usually meets on Fridays 2-4 pm in D1.312 The topics treated come from the present research interests of the members of our group. A common feature is the existence of many symmetries in the objects studied which give the name of the seminar a certain justification. Nevertheless, there may be talks on topics which are of predominantly functional analytic, number theoretic or differential geometric nature.
Preliminary program for the summer term 2005 (April 2005 through September 2005; version of July 22, 2005):
Thu, April 7, 3:45 pm

H. Upmeier (Marburg): Geodesic Calculus on Symmetric Domains
Thu, April 14, 2:15 pm
J. Hilgert (Paderborn): Bargmann-Segal transforms
The classical Bargmann-Segal transform is a Hilbert space isomorphism between the space of square integrable functions on $R^n$ and the Fock space of holomorphic functions in $C^n$ which are square integrable w.r.t. a Gaussian measure. In this talk we explain some application in representation theory and analogous constructions for other groups.
Thu, April 21, 2:15 pm
T. Wurzbacher (Metz): Geometry of the Hilbert-Schmidt Grassmann manifold
Thu, April 28, 2:15 pm
S. Keliny (Paderborn): Korn's Inequalities in Linear Elasticity Theory
Korn's inequalities in both smooth and Lipschitz domains represents The coerciveness of the The Dirichlet (sesquilinear) in the Hilbert space H1, which is essential to prove the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions of the linear elasticity equations according to Lax-Milgram Theorem.
Thu, May 12, 2:15 pm
C. Balleier (Dresden): Spin Geometry: Twistor equation on Spin^c manifolds
The difference between Spin and Spin^c structures on Riemannian manifolds will be explained. Starting from known results on parallel and Killing spinors on Spin^c manifolds and solutions of the twistor equation in the Spin case the twistor equation in Spin^c case will be discaussed.
On Tuesday, May 17, 2005 (5:45 pm in lecture hall D2) Prof. P. Littelmann (Universität Wuppertal) will speak about Combinatorics in Representation Theory in the framework of the EIM-Fakultätskolloquium
Thu, May 19, 2:15 pm
G. Olafsson (Baton Rouge): The Image of the Heat transform on Symmetric Spaces
Fri, June 3, 2:15 pm
T. Johansen (Iowa): Differential Intertwining Operators and Parabolic Geometries
Fri, June 17, 2:15 pm
O. Yakimova (Moskau/MPI Bonn): Classification of Gelfand pairs
Let G/K be a Riemannian homogeneous space of a real Lie group $G$. Then the pair (G, K) is called a Gelfand pair if the algebra of G-invariant differential operators on G/K is commutative. This notion is a generalisation of a well-elaborated notion of a symmetric homogeneous space. Similar to the symmetric case, Gelfand pairs can be characterised by several other conditions arising from different areas of mathematics like symplectic geometry and harmonic analysis. In case of reductive G the Gelfand pair are the same as the spherical pairs which are classified by Kraemer, Brion, and Mikityuk. In general case partial classification results are obtained by Benson-Ratcliff and Vinberg. We will give a complete classification of Gelfand pairs.
Fri, July 8, 2:15 pm

Mon, July 11, in C3.232, 2:15 pm
A.Harutyunyan (Jerewan): Gewichtete Räume von holomorphen Funktionen auf Polydisks
Es geht um folgende Schwerpunkte:
